It is that time of year again, you know, where most of us want to start off great by eating healthy and working out. You may even be the type of person who for the most part tries their best to eat healthy but still wonder if you are actually getting all your needed nutrients? Besides healthy eating, there could be other underlying issues that can cause you to be nutrient deficient. These reasons can be environmental toxicities, medications that rob you of nutrients, and poor gut absorption of nutrients, just to name a few. Luckily our bodies provide us with signs that we otherwise could miss for nutrient deficiency.
Nails are pretty impressive with their tell-tale signs. Nails can show a possible nutrient deficiency in several ways. For instance, nails that were once strong and healthy but now are brittle and are quick to break could be a sign of an iron deficiency. Hang nails could be a result of low vitamin C, folic acid or proteins. Did you know that if your nails have a pit in it big enough to hold a drop of water, could be a significant indicator that there is an iron deficiency or anemia?
Hair will also give clues to a lack of nutrients. If hair is brittle and weak, or your hair is falling out, this could be a clue that you are missing certain nutrients such as selenium, biotin, zinc, vitamin B6. Don’t ignore your hair- it has a lot to say about your nutrient levels too!
Have you noticed a difference in your skin lately? If your skin is dry, scaly, pale or bruises easily it could be from low iron, vitamin A, C, K, and zinc. No amount of lotions and creams are going to replenish those vitamins and nutrients. Your skin needs nutrients for a healthy, beautiful, and smooth complexion.
These signs are great, but you need accuracy when it comes to nutrient levels. That is why we recommend our Vitamin and Mineral test kit. The Vitamin and Mineral test will tell you exactly which nutrients Your body needs!
