Growing up I lived half my childhood in Germany, that is probably where my chocolate addiction began! If you have been to Germany, then you know that Germans and most Europeans enjoy “good” chocolate and delicious desserts. Down here in the South, many people enjoy plenty of sweet tea and fried foods. No matter where you are from most of us CRAVE! So, here a few tips to help you stop those food cravings that tend to get out of hand.
Step 1. This one is so important- Learn what YOUR food reactions are. If you continue to eat foods that you have an intolerance to, they can cause you to have a stronger appetite!
True Story
We had a young girl a few years ago that was overweight come into our clinic, little did she know, she had a wheat intolerance. She stopped eating wheat, and she told us she was no longer hungry all the time. Plus, she lost weight virtually effortlessly!
2. Treat yourself to something tiny like a couple of pieces of dark chocolate that only has 100 calories or less! Doing this will help you Not to binge eat after being restricted.
3. If I eat Hershey Kisses, it is easy for me to overeat them, especially when I ball up the wrappers- losing count. So, Keep your wrappers visible to that you can see how much you ate.
4. Drink a glass of water when having irresistible cravings and wait 20 minutes. Time it if you have to! After twenty minutes, the craving may subdue.
5. Try healthier alternatives. Instead of fried chicken, try a crusted baked chicken, instead of rice substitute with cauliflower rice, instead of milk chocolate try dark chocolate, etc. the options are limitless!
These are just a few tips to try, and I hope they help you as they have helped me! Sometimes, we try to do the right thing to keep us healthy, but something may still feel off. That is why I had to put an emphasis on Step One because food intolerances could have you craving foods that are actually NOT good for You even if they are healthy! Food intolerance can cause immune issues, weight struggles, skin eruptions, digestive problems, headaches, fatigue and much more. The problem is that most food intolerance reactions may not show up until 3 hours and up to 3 days later, making the culprit food undetectable. Our Food Allergy Test Kit (IgG & IgE) can tell you exactly which foods You need to avoid!
