Lavender is an herb, and its buds are used to make oil, medicine and also used in culinary. It is one of my top must-have essential oils and herbs. I want to share with you some of the many different ways that I use lavender- ways that can help your health and overall sense of well-being.

1. Healthy Skin and Scalp
For dry, itchy skin use Lavender essential oil mixed with coconut oil. This mixture is a natural way to moisturize your skin and soothe skin issues like eczema too!

You can fight the flakes and itchy dry scalp with a blend of lavender essential oil mixed with olive oil, or almond, or coconut oil, or even a combination of any of these oils. Use about 8 drops of lavender oil with 2 tablespoons oil. Apply to scalp and put a plastic shower cap on for an hour, then shampoo out.

2. Lavender as Thy Medicine for Stomach Issues
According to WebMD lavender has been used for digestive problems such as a stomach ache, gas, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Try adding a few dried lavender buds to your tea to help with bloating, I enjoy lavender in mine!

3. Culinary
Do not forget that lavender is an herb, so cook with it! I enjoy cooking, baking, and dessert making with lavender! You can use Herbes de Provence seasoning on your meat or roasted veggies for an extra health benefit. It tastes great in drinks too.

4. Bug Repellent and Anti-Itch Relief
If you have a mosquito bite, apply one or two drops of lavender oil directly to the bite, repeat as needed for relief OR apply before you go outside to repel mosquitoes and bugs!

5. Sleep
When my first daughter was a baby, I would put a few drops of lavender oil on a cotton ball and place it inside of her pillow case to help her fall asleep. Lavender is used for insomnia too according to WebMD, which is no surprise to me! When the kids were little my best friend would come over with her kids, exhausted, lie down on my bed and pass out for an hour or two. She always said she felt relaxed in my house and could sleep. Sh! I always had lavender oil on my pillow for her!

6. Stress
Lavender is an excellent natural way help to destress for your mental well-being. When your mind needs a sense of peace, relaxation, and calmness, lavender essential oil is the go-to oil! Drop a few drops into an oil diffuser and inhale its relaxing benefits of aromatherapy- aaahh!
