Just this past week I had a patient that had an incredible improvement! She came in 30 days ago for her initial appointment. She shared how she was so tired that she could barely function, her stomach hurt all the time, there was too much body pain, and it was hard for her to work as she could not focus well. She has a job where she stands on her feet all day long and it was getting challenging. Plus she is young and in love with her husband and life was just getting difficult!
As we chatted, I made a few suggestions. One suggestion was cooking meals at home until symptoms started to improve. I changed her diet to one of fast food to an intake of healthy foods and taught her how to healthily grocery shop. Breakfast went from a drive-thru biscuit to a nice home cooked meal that consisted of pasture- raised eggs, turkey bacon no nitrates, ½ avocado and some berries. Lunch changed from a sandwich with traditional deli meat to an organic salad with cucumber, broccoli, carrots, berries, sunflower seeds and either organic chicken, gluten- free turkey or grass-fed beef. Dinner was a nice home cooked meal free of all inflammatory foods and chemicals.
Of course, I ran some labs to make sure there wasn’t anything too serious. We did a stool test and LabCorp tests to check for some infections, iron, b12, folate, D, glucose, insulin, inflammation markers, thyroid and more. Her stool test did show a few nasty bacterias which we will take care of. Her thyroid was a bit sluggish and iron was also low.
The one thing she kept saying to me was that she was so amazed how just 30 days of home, healthy cooking changed her life for the better! There were improvements in her stomach, focus, energy, mood, and activity level. Things were on the upswing and continuing to improve even more.
A gut infection can cause unnecessary stomach / colon symptoms
A sluggish thyroid can cause unnecessary fatigue
