Fall is a great time to switch up your produce and save some money buying local. Shopping in season is a great way to help your microbiome for the time of year your body is preparing for.

Because so many foods are available year-round, it’s not always obvious what’s in peak season. Your local farmer’s market can be a useful resource for the freshest seasonal produce near you.

These are some favorite super food fruits and vegetables that are in season during the fall. Artichoke, beets, beet greens, bell peppers, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, chard, corn, eggplant, garlic, potatoes (main-crop), radishes, spinach, sweet potatoes, wild mushrooms, almonds, apples, chestnuts, cranberries, limes, pears, plums, pomegranate, raspberries, tomatoes

Fall Proteins:  duck, lamb, and lobster.
Fall Fruits: Apple, pear, pomegranate, blackberry, fig, and persimmon
Fall Green Vegetables: Brussels sprouts, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, and artichokes
Fall Orange Vegetables: pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and hard squash varieties like acorn and butternut
Fall Red Vegetables: sweet peppers, chili peppers, and beets

There are some good reasons to eat more local, seasonal Super-foods
