Lyme can be overcome depending on how long it has been in the body. That is why when it comes to Lyme, the sooner you test for Lyme, the better your chances are of getting rid of it. Unfortunately, most people are not aware that they were bitten by a Lyme infected tick and unless you are in a state that is known to have a Lyme problem, it can be missed. According to the CDC data in “2015, 95% of confirmed Lyme disease cases were reported from 14 states.” None of the fourteen states listed Georgia which took me for a surprise because we have seen plenty of people that are battling Lyme.
Many people that have Lyme simply do not know that the symptoms they are suffering from are from an infected tic bite. Symptoms usually begin with flu like symptoms. Days or weeks later the symptoms can change to anything from extreme fatigue, migraines, debilitating brain fog, stomach aches, burning of the extremities and other troublesome neurological symptoms. The quicker it is found , the better the chances of a full recovery. . For people that did not find out if they had Lyme, quickly, there is still HOPE! Here is what to look for when it comes to Lyme symptoms.
The CDC has certain requirements for diagnosing Lyme as pertains to the western blot test. They require 5 out of 10 IgG bands to be positive or 2 out of 3 IgM bands.
Symptoms of Early Lyme are a red expanding rash in the shape of a bull’s eye (a red dot with a red ring around it) mark, facial muscle weakness, sudden flu-like symptoms, new stomach aches or migraines, fainting, shortness of breath and sudden overall weakness.
Late Lyme disease symptoms are constant or chronic fatigue, nerve pain, numbness, irregular heart rate, hot and cold sensations, memory loss, poor gait, fatigue and joint pain.
