For some people the mention of going vegan is enough to make their mouths drop wide- open and their eyes pop out! Trust me; I am not trying to convert you into a vegan. Being vegan is a personal matter, and I for one, understand that many folks who choose to not eat meat cringe at the thought of “the food on the plate had a face“- I get it, I truly do. I am not a vegan, however, have been vegetarian several times. I do enjoy meat and eating fresh produce too! Being a vegan, a vegetarian, or meat eater may not be the right choice for everyone, but Here is Why You Should Go Vegan at Least Once a Week!
- You will save money on meat, and you know how expensive meat is!
- You will most likely open yourself up to trying new things like exotic produce, restaurants, and recipes.
- Trying new recipes may help you be more creative in the kitchen.
- You will probably eat more seasonal foods which are usually cheaper (saving money again) and have more nutrients.
- You will feel better going vegan once a week because it virtually eliminates most packaged and processed foods (again more nutrients) and foods that trigger inflammation.
Becoming a full-time vegan or vegetarian may contribute to a deficiency in vitamin B12. However, being a meat eater does not necessarily mean someone is healthier than a vegan or vegetarian either. Regardless whether vegan, vegetarian, or meat eater, anyone can have a micro-nutrient deficiency. Furthermore, anyone can also have a food intolerance and anyone who Does have food intolernaces usually has inflammation too, which in turn can also cause nutrient absorption problems. By the way most people are unaware whether or not they are deficient in nutrients or if the have a food intolerance. Knowing which nutrients need to balanced and which foods are right for YOU can improve your health.
That is why nutrient and food intolerance testing is so important.
