Eat fat and lose weight? That sounds so wrong, right? Especially, if you remember the 90’s when most of us fell for the labeling gimmicks “Low-Fat or Fat-Free.” Those foods may have been low-fat or fat-free, but they were loaded with sugar or salt or both to make up for the lack of flavor. Eating fat does not necessarily make you fat! There are plenty of “good” fats that come from foods such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, nuts, seeds and fish oils that should not cause you to gain weight. These types of fats are essential for growth, development, and energy. Eat more of these fats, and you will be burning fat! Of course, in saying that, it certainly depends on what types of foods you are pairing it with. Enjoy healthy fats with protein and nutritious carbohydrates and make sure to avoid s-u-g-a-r which stop you from being able to lose weight!
