Are you finding yourself so tired that all you really want to do is take a nap at your desk? If this is your struggle, then this read is for you!

If you are crashing regularly after lunch time, then you may want to make sure that you are not eating a heavy meal for lunch. Instead, try lighter dishes and healthy snacks. Heavy meals can slow us down making you want to put on sweatpants and curl up for a nap. Opt for healthy meals and snacks that are a combination of fiber, healthy fats and protein. This combo will help to ensure a slow rise in blood sugar to sustain energy levels throughout the rest of the day.

Try healthy snacks like hummus and veggies, trail mixes (with dried fruit, nuts, and seeds). If you are craving something a bit sweeter, eat coconut, oranges, or yogurt to limit sugars and increase vitamins and minerals.  Still need an extra boost of energy? Try green tea instead of coffee that way you can avoid all the milk and sugar that will have you crashing later, but still enjoy a little caffeine plus a dose of antioxidants.

Next, don’t get caught with your head on the desk! Get up and get moving a bit! A five to ten-minute walk outside will revive your energy plus you can get some Vitamin D in if it is sunny outside! If you can not get outside, that is OK too; you can always do some jumping jacks, push ups or even stretches to get your blood flowing throughout your body and brain:)

Finally, treat yourself by listening to a favorite song or two and you may even want to use essential oils that put you in a good mood and support energy and focus. Grapefruit oil helps awaken the senses to keep you alert- so go ahead and give it a try!
