Items Tested For:Beneficial Bacteria (Good Bacteria): these make up a large portion of total microflora in a healthy and balanced GI tract. They may have health protecting effects in the GI tract including manufacturing vitamins, fermenting fibers, digesting proteins and carbohydrates, and propagating anti tumor and anti inflammatory factors.
Commensal (imbalanced) flora: This is neither good nor bad bacteria. But imbalances can occur when there are low good bacteria overall. Some types of commensal bacteria can be considered dysbiotic if they are at very high levels.
Dysbiotic (Bad Bacteria): These are known pathogenic bacteria (harmful) and can cause disease in the GI tract. They can be present due to consumption of contaminated drinking water or food, exposure to chemicals toxic to good bacteria, antibiotics, other medications, poor fiber and high stress.
Yeast Culture & Microscopic: Yeast is normally found in the skin, mouth, intestine and mucocutaneuos junctions. Overgrowth can infect every organ system, leading to a wide range of symptoms. One strain is called Candida which effects the GI tract, energy and the skin. Mold toxicity is also a challenge for many people.
Parasites: Intestinal parasites are abnormal inhabitants of the GI tract that have the potential to cause harm to their host. Acute manifestations may involve diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea but not always. If not destroyed, these parasites can cause damage to the intestinal lining, unsuspected illness & fatigue, IBS, irregular bowel movements, malabsorption, gastritis or indigestion, skin disorders, joint pain, allergic reactions & decreased immune function. In some cases they can circulate and travel to various organs causing severe organ illnesses.
