Life is busy! Almost anything and everything is at our fingertips, and because of this, more is demanded NOW as in “right this minute”- No, a minute is too long, how about “right this second”? You have deadlines, and so much to do, so if you are coming down with something, what are you going to do?

I can picture a Sweet Brown-Meme  (remember the woman who escaped the apartment fire) right now at the hospital with her famous saying, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” I mean who has the time to be sick, right? Most people will immediately reach for a quick-fix pill. However, our bodies are trying to tell us that we need to slow down and take the time to take care of ourselves. Otherwise, if you are not healing, your body may be slowly developing an illness even though you covered up the symptom and feel okay, which in the long run is going to cost you a longer recovery time plus your health!

Ways to Speed Up Your Healing by Slowing Down

Resting is essential for the restoration of your body, mind and overall health so make sure to get in the recommended eight hours of good quality sleep. If you are feeling worn out, make room for a cat nap.

Bath-time is so much more relaxing than jumping in and out of the shower. So, slow down and take the time to enjoy and relax in the tub. Make it special with some candles, essential oils, and relaxing music. Add Epsom salt and baking soda for a detoxifying bath especially if you feel worn out or like you may be getting ill.

Staying focused on being well grounded and balanced is also another way of slowing down to speed up your healing because it keeps you aware of what is going on all around you. Being able to know when you simply need to breathe, or take a break, or pray, or meditate, will help keep stress levels down.

Treat Yourself. Put it on the calendar and take an hour for yourself to slow down, whether it be a massage, walk in the park, a night out with the girls or guys, or even cleaning your room, do something that will make you feel refreshed and satisfied.

Nutrition is probably the most important piece to the puzzle concerning your healing. I know times are busy and the drive -thru is so much easier. However, whatever you are eating is either healing or worse not healing because there is a battle that is going on within your body.

Next up, tying in with nutrition is Prevention, because your nutrition is your prevention and vice versa! So feed your body what it craves which are foods rich in nutrients such as fresh produce, fiber, and protein. Finding out which particular foods your body wants and the ones that may be compromising your immune system (even though they are healthy), is as easy as 1-2-3 with our Food Allergy Test Kit! Take the time to make a meal, try one new healthy recipe per week with the healthy foods that YOUR body Craves:)
