Adrenal fatigue is much more debilitating than simply being tired. Fatigue after a long day of work or fatigue after an afternoon with the kids at a busy park in the hot sun is not adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue means being tired when you shouldn’t be, say in the morning, after a good night’s sleep.
People with adrenal fatigue sleep fine at night but have a terrible time waking up and getting their day off to a good start. They normally drag in the morning, hitting the snooze button a number of times and then rushing out the door, running late to get to wherever they need to go. Oh, and of course to wake them up, they have a large cup of coffee in their hand!
A mom with adrenal fatigue may have a busy day rushing around with the kids all day and drop off to sleep exhausted around 9pm, sleep till 7am and does not wake up happy, refreshed and ready to do it again. Instead moms with adrenal fatigue start to feel tired all the time, never refreshed and feel like they can never get their acts together no matter how much they sleep.
A person with a full time job that they used to enjoy may work 8-5 , come home, eat dinner, relax in front of the television in the evening, go to bed around 10, sleeps fine but the next morning they do not have the energy to hop out of bed and do it again with a smile on their face. Why does this happen? It happens because the adrenals get burnt out, stops making healthy levels of
cortisol with all life’s rushing around and this causes “adrenal fatigue”.
