Figuring out whether you have a food allergy or a food sensitivity can be easy. All you have to do is take our combination Food Allergy / Food Sensitivity Test Kit (IgG & IgE). Some people do food journaling to see if they can figure out which foods they are reacting too. This can be difficult to do and it may not be totally accurate as journaling can leave some important foods out.
The first thing you should know is that a food allergy can be severe and life-threatening causing the immune system to react. A food sensitivity is usually less severe but it can definitely be bothersome as symptoms can effect the digestive, immune or even the nervous system. For example, a food allergy symptom could cause someone to have difficulty breathing, wheezing or even create anaphylaxis which certainly is life threatening. As for food sensitivities (IgG), one may experience headaches, anxiety, trouble sleeping, weight gain, sinus congestion, asthma symptoms, gas, diarrhea, pain, fatigue, etc. but none of these are considered life threatening. Another difference between the two is with food allergies (IgE) the symptoms appear immediately after consuming a particular food. Food sensitivities symptoms can show up an hour later, or several hours, and even up to days later after consuming the culprit food. The time issue is why food sensitivities are often missed. After all, why suspect a food sensitivity days later right? Even food journaling can miss that one!
A food sensitivity could be blocking weight loss efforts or be the cause of headaches, muscle aches and joint pains on a regular basis. Skin issues like acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, rosacea, and or keratosis pilaris are often related to food sensitivities too. Digestive problems like diarrhea, gas, bloating, stomach pain, nausea, and constipation can also be linked to food sensitivities.
That is why we are firm believers that anyone who sincerely wants to know whether they have a food allergy or sensitivity should find out with our combination Food Allergy / Food Sensitivity Test Kit. It takes the guess work out and is the most accurate way to reveal your food allergies and sensitivities!
