What does an upset stomach mean to you? Bowel irregularities? Heartburn? General gut discomfort? The gut is the center of health in the body. Everything we ingest gets processed there and then sent throughout the body via the blood. There are many different conditions that can affect the gut. Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder that affects the colon. Crohn’s disease is inflammation in the intestinal lining. Ulcerative colitis involves spores or ulcers in the lining of the colon. Leaky gut syndrome involves poor, or excessive, permeability throughout the gut (meaning nutrients/waste are either not contained or are over contained.)
Those are just a few – your gut also has levels of good and bad bacteria that need to be in balance, as well as the potential for parasites that could have been ingested. All of these disorders can lead to various forms of upset stomach and gut discomfort. If you suffer with any of these you know just how difficult the discomfort can make your day to day life. At Nutritionally Yours, we highly recommend that those with consistent upset stomachs do a stool sample test kit to identify exactly what is going on in their gut. There could be a bacteria imbalance, parasite, yeast or leaky gut that is causing unnecessary symptoms. Once we have your results, we give you a detailed protocol to help you relieve symptoms and get on with your life.
