When dealing with fibromyalgia and chronic pain and fatigue the simple things in life can cause a relapse. Those that live with chronic pain use “Spoons” as a way of determining when they have met their limit. The difference in being sick and being healthy is having to make choices or to consciously think about things when the rest of the world doesn’t have to. The healthy have the luxury of choice, a gift most people take for granted. Most people start the day with unlimited amount of possibilities, and energy to do whatever they desire, especially young people. For the most part, they do not need to worry about the effects of their actions. Each spoon represents the energy it takes to do a task. You always have a limited amount of spoons and unlimited tasks. If you have 20 spoons, just your morning routine could cost you 6!
You would never know that people are dealing with chronic pain. They don’t look sick on the outside, but inside is excruciating. They have learned to act normal to participate in life. If someone declines, they just may be out of spoons for the day! Cooking, eating, and cleaning up after dinner is 3 spoons- 4 or 5 if you had to shop beforehand. It is a mystery to most and hard to describe by those who have it.
3 things you need to know:
1. They aren’t making it up. ( It isn’t in your head.)
2. Tell people you are out of spoons! Educate them on what it is like to live with fibromyalgia or chronic pain.
3. Invest in your self-care! Take the time to love your self and feed your body healthy nutrition. Remember a day of rest is not a wasted day!
Studies have found that food intolerances reveal a possible food connection to fibromyalgia. In short order, it is possible to experience relief and see significant improvement. An elimination diet after testing for trigger foods is an easy way to reduce symptoms. It may take being diligent in removing all forms of trigger foods to live pain-free.
Test for a solution and answers if you are struggling with pain you can’t pinpoint. We use food testing to identify foods that may be causing fibromyalgia precisely. Knowledge allows you to make progress.
